输出电流大时应采用降压式DC/DC变换器
便携式电子产品大部分工作电流在300mA以下，并且大部分采用5#镍镉、镍氢电池，若采用1～2节电池，升压到3.3V或5V并要求输出500mA以上电流时，电池寿命不长或两次充电间隔时间太短，使用不便。这时采用降压式DC/DC变换器，其效率与升压式差不多，但电池的寿命或充电间隔时间要长得多。
注意事项：DC/DC变换器中L、C、D的选择
电感L、输出电容C及续流二极管或隔离二极管D的选择十分重要。电感L要满足在开关电流峰值时不饱和（开关峰值电流要大于输出电流3～4倍），并且要选择合适的磁芯以满足开关频率的要求及选择直流电阻小的以减少损耗。电容应选择等效串联电阻小的电解电容（LOW ESR），这可降低输出纹波电压，采用三洋公司的有机半导体铝固体电解电容（一般为几十～几百毫欧）有较好效果。二极管必须采用肖特基二极管，并且要以满足大于峰值电流为要求。
